20 Seconds
“Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and an embarrassing amount of bravery and something great will happen.”
→ We train for 3 seconds. It takes 3 seconds for the pitcher to move, release the ball, and for a hitter to make a decision. 3 seconds.
→ Details matter. The way you train matters. Every step, every move, every second. If you can’t focus in a controlled environment, how do you expect to during competition?
→ The 20 seconds of insane courage is what we need to develop. 20 seconds is our walk from the on-deck circle to the box. 20 seconds is the time between pitches. Extreme focus in training allows us to control those 20 seconds when it comes time.
All you get is 3 seconds, so train the 20 prior to them.
